My Little Bug
I can't help but see a Coop as a little pincher bug when his NAM is out and the steri strips are left on.

Lassen National Park
Sunday, the family took a spontaneous trip to Lassen National Park in CA. This was the first of many hikes to come with Cooper. The trail we took was 3 1/2 hours both ways leading to 3 gorgeous lakes. Terrace, Shadow, and Cliff Lakes. Thank God for my Moby Wrap. Coop slept the entire time. Luckily, we left just in time because once we got in the car, a warning for severe thunder/lightning storms broadcasted on the radio. The storm was headed to the mountains we were hiking!
Nasal Stent Added to NAM Tomorrow
We are looking forward to getting the nasal stent put in tomorrow. We're one step closer to his surgery, and the weekly 5 hour roundtrip drive is completely worth it seeing the progress the NAM has made. The orthodontist said that this will be the smallest stent he's ever made. It doesn't look like Cooper has that much cartilage to help form his nostril, but we're taking the, "it doesn't hurt to try" approach. Hopefully everything will go well tomorrow, it is expected to be a three hour appointment :-/ Let's see if I can keep a 3 month old baby entertained that long in an office. Wish me good luck! I'll post pics after the appt.

Bug-Eyes and Bird Poo
Wednesday, the family enjoyed a beautiful day at the park. We packed sandwiches, drinks, and sprawled out on the grass to people watch. In the midst of watching a couple throw a frisbee back and forth, a lovely bird decided to drop a thoughtful gift on my son's face. Although gross, the oblivious look on Coop's face brought hysterical laughter to both Joel and I. People surrounding us in their swimsuits started covering up, thinking we were laughing at them. We were laughing so hard, the couple throwing the frisbee walked away, apparently thinking they were the butt of our joke. In all actualilty, it was our poor son who had just been violated.

Big Smiles
The last two weeks, Coop has really started showing his personality. He loves to play and "talk" with mommy. We are absolutely loving all the firsts, and appreciating Coop's progress with the NAM. Looking back on his birth pictures to now, we can really notice the change in his lip gap. It is much closer together now. Knowing the success of what we are doing is really reassuring for all the hard work that is put into his surgery prep. These are some of my favorite pics of Coop and Joel "playing" games together.
